Art-Talk-400x400

On the third Monday of each month, January through October, LRAA members, guests and the general public gather in the Gallery for an evening of camaraderie, learning and fun.

Engaging Art Talks at Lakes Region Art Association

Member and Guest Speakers from across New England have been sharing their expertise and passion during our monthly Art Talks. These gatherings offer a wide range of experiences, from hands-on training to detailed demonstrations across various art genres. In recent months, we have been fortunate to host talented painters, artists, quilters, fabric artists, copper arts, and photographers. Art Talk presentations typically commence around 7 pm, immediately following the conclusion of our LRAA business meeting, offering an open invitation to the public. Join us and be inspired by the diverse creativity that graces our doors.

An Uncommon Look at the Common Loon Black & White Loons in Full Color

May 20th at 7:00 PM

AN Evening with Ian Clark

With their haunting cries and beautiful plumage, common loons are an iconic symbol of the northern wilderness. Join us for An Uncommon Look at the Common Loon, a slideshow exploring the natural history of loons in the North Country. West Newbury, Vermont-based photographer Ian Clark spent nearly 2,000 hours kayaking with loons over the last decade and taken over 250,000 photos of loons and their behaviors.

Join us at 7:00 p.m. in the Lakes Region Art Gallery in Tilton, NH as Ian will present his show. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Ian spent many years operating commercial photo labs and tackling technical photographic problems, including a stint as the Manager of the Photographic Section at NASA’s Langley

Research Center. He has a B.S. from the Rochester Institute of Technology and did his master’s work at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He has been a news stringer off and on since 1975. Ian is a Juried Member of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, the New Hampshire Art Association and the Vermont Hand Crafters. More information about Ian is available on his website at www.IanClark.com.  [Editor’s note: I must have spent an hour on his website! (Then had to return to editing.)  I especially loved the blogs about the loon families- amazing photos and engaging observations. And if you like trains- you’ll love his photo essays about steam trains!  I’m really looking forward to this Art Talk!]
